INTERIOR DESIGN

nadia olive schnack about

“She considers it a calling to roil the calm sea of Nordic neutrals to help clients see the light in all its saturated glory.” ( New York Times Style Magazine, Nov. 2018)

My signature is the very distinctive mix of patterns, selected antiques, new designs and not the least colours. In surroundings that have my fingerprint life has to be able to be lived to the fullest – with everything applying to celebration and reflection. My taste is timeless. I’m not working with what is trendy or fashionable at the moment. I seek the balance – regardless of what others do – and I find it by linking purpose, planning solution, architecture, furniture and materials.

To me it’s like a jigsaw puzzle. When the pieces that match are found, the ambience and atmosphere unite. Conversely, I work best when I get free hands. Even a small change at the edge of a puzzle piece can destroy the big picture, which then no longer falls into place.

Some call my style bold. Others may find it superficial to be absorbed in a shade of colour or a vintage sofa. But to me it is not just about decorating or making the surroundings more beautiful. It is about creating spaces which may contribute to enrich the lives of the people, who inhabit them.

Apart from my experience, the most important tools in my work box are my theoretical knowledge of colors – and then of course my intuition. After six years at the renowned Tapet-Café, I stepped into a life as self-employed in 2016. In addition I also hold a Msc.in Communication.

Please contact me if you are interested to know more about how I work and tell me about your future project.

Best wishes

Nadia Olive Schnack

COLOUR STUDIO

Colours are my strongest tool, and I have always been interested in how colours can be used, blended, balanced and mastered. Studying colours and their effect on people is a process that never ends, and it is only enhanced in the interaction with others. That is why I have created some events where I can share my passion with others.

TALKS AND WORKSHOP:
We offer talks and workshops where of course colours are the focal point of interest. In order to achieve a perfect arrangement it is obvious to combine the two – starting with the talk and finishing with the workshop making use of your hands. Write an email to mail@nadiaoliveschnack.dk to learn more.

LECTURES ON HISTORICAL USE OF COLOURS:
Based on architectural and art historical eras, the social causes and contexts for the use of colours are explained. Topics such as “The change of colours in Victorian style homes to functionalism” or “The colours of the 1970s until today – why the development?”

COLOUR TALKS – THEORY & INTUITION:
Colours undeniably affect us, but why is it so? How can colours make a difference in private homes, in the workplaces and in institutions? Get a theoretical knowledge of how colour may be of use and how, as a private person or as a professional, you can make use of the entire colour spectrum in order to create life-giving spaces with very few tools.

WORKSHOP:
Share your joy of colours with others. Get selected tools that can help your interior design move in a brand new direction. We look at colour theories, study various interior design projects and solve specific tasks. Watch out for Instagram about the next workshop or write to me directly.

COLOUR ADVICE:
Use colours in your office, in your living room, in your store or somewhere else. Lift people in the retirement and rest homes, the staff in nurseries or the patients in waiting rooms with a carefully selected colour solution. Get individual guidance on colour combinations and optimal use of colours and patterns.

SCHNACK ARCHIVE

Antiques and vintage finds mean everything to my interior design projects, because they are created by good craftsmanship and often with a better and stronger quality. They carry a story that in itself helps to give the room atmosphere.

I hand pick the finest things when I meet them to have them ready for the next project before the auction is over. But also for you to buy, if you see something you cannot live without.

If necessary they have been restored, and they now stand in all their grace, waiting for a new home. Dive into my archive and shop directly on Instagram @schnackarchive.
